How the year is quickly coming to an end, and what do we have to show for it? In this tough economy, for some of us, it might have been a rough year and we are looking forward to the prospects of a better year. For others, it might not have been as bad but we are still looking to make more changes that are positive in our lives. Typically, we know what we would like to do for our New Year’s resolution, but often times we are not aware of some other things we can consider as well. We decided to look up what the rest of the United States considers as their New Year’s resolution.
From USA.gov, we got the answer and I figure I provide my two cents on the resolutions.
Drink less alcohol – Alcohol consumption has never lead to anything positive! It leads to destructive and reckless behavior that will always cause more harm than good.
Get a better education – There are many things that can be taken away from someone, but an education will stay with you forever.
Get a better job – If your current job is not something that pays the bills or gives you any kind of enjoyment, I think it is time for a different occupation. You will become a more productive person when you enjoy what you do for a living.
Get fit – It is not about going to the gym for 2 weeks only. It is a commitment to your health and well-being for a lifetime.
Lose weight – Dropping a pound does not constitute weight loss but it is a good start. Shoot for the baby steps like a pound a week.
Manage Debt – Debt is what keeps most people up at night and if you have felt this way at some time this year, then it is time you made a budget to help settle your debt.
Manage Stress – Stress is bad for you physically, mentally, emotionally and it affects everyone around you. Finding different ways to manage your stress to see what works for you.
Quit Smoking – Smoking is bad for you and everyone around you. Plus, let us not forget the odor you possess when smoking.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle –It takes a million years for glass to decompose so let us all do our part to help protect our environment.
Save money – No one has ever said, “I wish I never saved money”
Take a trip – Life is too short and you never know what may happen so take advantage and make room for that trip.
Volunteer to help others – There are many people out there who are worse off than you, even if you do not think that might be possible. Helping others is the best way to help your-self.
At First Care of New York, we hope you have a wonderful new year and may all your wishes and resolutions come true!
